We’re seeking a passionate Community Recovery Rebuild Support Officer (CRRSO), this is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our communities. Your opportunity
As our Community Recovery Rebuild Support Officer (CRRSO), you will support long-term recovery and resilience of disaster affected communities following the Western Queensland surface Trough and Associated rainfall and flooding (March 2025 - May 2025). This initiative is part of the Community Health and Wellbeing package which has been included within the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) Category C exceptional circumstances funding. Reporting to the Director Community and Business Development, you will assist the long-term recovery, rebuilding and resilience of local residents and assist Councils in developing more resilient responses for future events.
With integrity and pride, you will:
- Provide Council building and planning services with practical and technical support
- Identify areas for improving communication and support
- Identify barriers and better understand and meet the needs of impacted residents
- Support impacted residents to restore their homes to a safe and habitable condition
- Prepare quarterly milestone reports
- Collaborate with other CRRSO's across South West and Central West Queensland
- Comply with the eligibility requirements of the supplier guidelines and the DRFA
What you'll bring
You will have a genuine commitment to community resilience and recovery, with the ability to build productive partnerships and engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders. To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Experience working respectfully and empathetically with disaster affected communities
- Understanding of cultural, economic and social sensitivities across remote and regional communities
- Ability to enforce program compliance while maintaining dignity and fairness
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements 9DRFA)
- Ability to manage sensitive data and financial documentation ethically and confidentially
- Demonstrated success designing and/or leading recovery programs from design to implementation
Although it’s not essential, it would be great if you had:
- Community or economic development experience to identify and promote programs
- Experience in governance frameworks related to disaster response and local government operations
- Project planning, budgeting and performance tracking skills
